Let me tell ya 'bout my best friends.
Hailey + Cannon (aka Mom + Dad)
My love for these two is bigger than the mountains we have climbed together. Cheesy? A lil bit. Honest? Absolutely. Over the past years, I have watched them grow into themselves and by golly it has been a beautiful, humbling, and hilarious journey.
I have never experienced a truer friendship. I have witnessed the (many) arguments, the reconciliation, the job applications, the love, the real hard stuff, life, moves, the graduations, and lots of laughter. Guys, they even helped me move in AND out of my first apartment in Bellingham.
The thing is, I desire to experience all of this stuff with every friendship I hold close. But the truth is- Hailey and Cannon invite me in. Into their lives, their love, and their marriage. They are real and they don't shut people out. Invite me in to the point where i randomly stop by their house late at night to say hello and end up laying my head there, and yes, Cannon even offers to sleep on the couch. Thanks, bud! They invite me to experience their messy and beautiful love. Invite me to dinner and on vacation.
Okay, okay... I admit, when Hailey first got engaged, I cried on my way home from their engagement fiesta in Wyoming. Not the whole time.... but for a split sec. My thought was something along the lines of "My best best friend is about to get married. Things are gonna change big time". But guess what? Things changed, but they changed for the BETTER! Cannon has become one of my best friends and my friendship with Hails has been strengthened. Cannon is even letting her come to Thailand with me this fall.... He deserves an award, really.
So, enough about our friendship... You're really here to look at wedding photos, right?
I had the privilege of photographing this beautiful day, as well as standing beside Hailey and Cannon as a bridesmaid. And yes, duhhh, I carried my camera down the aisle. I would be lying if I told you it was a piece of cake. In fact, I wouldn't have made it through the day without the help of my amazing assistant and friend, Logan Smith. Pretty sure he had to pat me on the back and tell me it would be okay, like 83times... After all, I just wanted to get all the perfect photos for my bestie while still being a good bridesmaid!!
The Milligan Wedding was held at Cannon's parents' beautiful home on a hot and steamy August day (exactly a year ago from today!!) and was stunning, yet wonderfully simple and classic. I believe that the love Cannon and Hailey share for each other is manifested in many ways, but I do truly believe that their love is evident and can be seen through these photos.
I am so thankful to have had the chance to photograph milestones for them, such as their engagement photos in Wyoming, and now their wedding. I am so expectant and stoked for where life will take them next- and what my camera will inevitably capture.
Cheers to a love that is honorable, pure, beautiful, and freakin' awesome.
Love you two mucho grande.
