Today is a good one

Today is like any other day. Go to class, edit photos, instagram a few random pictures, meet with Hailey for our weekly "treat day" that consists of a latte, a cookie and good conversation. Maybe do some homework, skype a few friends, then sit down at my little laptop and blog.

However,  something different happened today. I reached over 10,000 views on my blog! I am still smiling at this achievement, although, I like to give credit when credit is due, thus why this post will be dedicated to a dear friend, mentor, and inspiration: the infamous Dororthy Huynh.

I remember when I first met Dorothy, she had a gigantic smile, and a camera flung over her shoulder. She was intriguing right off the bat. I sent her an email the beginning of my sophomore year, asking her if she would please let me job shadow her. Anything. I just wanted to be around a camera. To my surprise she invited me to a WEDDING. My very first shoot of any kind. I think I was sweating of nervousness the whole morning. When I pulled up, she handed me a camera and had the look of "Alright, let's do this". I jumped in, and I didn't even know how to work the dang thing. Many laughs were shared, and hundreds of photos captured.

Since then, I knew that photography was more than just something I enjoyed doing. It was a passion. Dorothy has always encouraged and inspired me to keep that passion alive. Honestly though, as competition arises with photographers in Seattle and WA, I have no idea why on earth she would want to help ME, but she has. She gives me advice, business tips, and has continued to hire me as a second shooter. And I definitely owe her a bit of credit to my success.

She is a phenomenal artist & a lovely human being, that I am SO thankful to know, and to say I have worked with her.

These photos above are some shots that I took when we took a trip to Medford, Oregon for Jennah & Shane's wedding. It was burning hot, and we frolicked through spiked bushes and grass to find some shade under the only tree in the field. She's gorgeous, huh?

If, you have not seen Dororhy's work please take my advice and go check it out, now  http://www.dorothyhuynh.com/ If you have seen it, just go look at it again, it is that awesome, TRUST ME.
